The Mind Matters Seminar is an Equilibrium initiative by The Muslima Mindset which is geared towards aiding Muslim Women to align to Islamic values in thought, word and deed to live a life of ihsan, excellence. The Mind Matters Seminar is geared towards helping one better understand their own psychology to better their Dunya experience and offers a platform for real discussions to take place with trained professionals in a safe and understanding environment.
The event will be held at Seaview, Williamstown on Saturday 4th October from 10-3pm. Beverages and Lunch will be provided for on the day.
1. Islamic Psychology in navigating the Dunya experience.
Nina Fashik delves into the need to understand oneself from a wholistic Islamic paradigm and lens whilst considering western psychology teachings, offering an Islamic lens to purpose, journey, meaning to real lived experiences and healing.
2. Psychology of Emotions & Emotional Regulation, presented by Psychologist Toltu Tufa from Shura Psychology.
The psychology of emotions explores how humans experience, express, and regulate feelings. It examines the interplay between subjective experiences, physiological responses, and behavioural expressions and how these components contribute to our overall well-being.
3. The psychology of trauma and psychological resilience, presented by Dr Lucy Verwey, clinical psychologist from Heart and Mind Psychology.
- Explores hypersensitivity to threat
- Cultivating Resilience in response to stress or trauma
- Explores how resiliency is the ability to cope and move forward in the aftermath of trauma.
- Offers practical tools to aid one in their journey.
4. Psychology of relationships, "From past to present; how our thoughts and words shape our relationship resilience" presented by Dr Esma Kurt, Clinical Psychologist from Mindcare Consulting.
- Practical strategies on how to improve relationships and communication
